Substack is upgrading its social networking features with the new launch of direct messages. Accessible through the Chat tab on both the Substack app and website, DMs offer a convenient platform for users to communicate directly with one another.
Users are given direct control over their DMs and are set to only connect with people they follow by default. Any other messages will be directed to a Requests folder, where users can accept or reject them, ensuring a tailored and secure messaging experience.
While Substack initially gained recognition as a newsletter platform, its strategic evolution into a more social-oriented platform reflects a broader shift in user preferences and expectations.
