Currently, the #BookTok hashtag has more than 65 billion views on TikTok and the short-form content platform is now introducing its own official book club to support and expand the community. TikTok’s Book Club can be found within the app and on a monthly basis, a new book will be recommended. As TikTok itself describes, this hub will be a “cozy corner where communities can experience the joy [of] reading together.”
The Gen Z book club is kicking off with the Jane Austen classic Persuasion from 1817. This book club pick also leverages the popularity of #AustenTok has amassed more than 19 million views on TikTok.
Within this book club, people share content that covers all the joys of reading, including the experience and anticipation of visiting a local bookstore to pick up a new read.
