First Playable Print Ads : First Playable Print Ad

The world’s first playable print ad on Instagram’s Spark AR was done by Malaysia’s premier shipping company, MISC, for the country’s National Day. As a company that moves the country forward, this was its way of connecting with everyday Malaysians and building brand presence.

As a world’s first, the playable AR filter uses a score sheet and icons that allow users to tap on it like music notes to play the country’s national anthem, called ‘Negaraku.’ It pushed the frontier of Spark’s AR capabilities, maxing out the number of interactions it could hold and compressing the file into just 4MB (the maximum limit of a Spark AR file).

While the print ad launched on August 31st, 2022, the AR filter itself is still in circulation and use.
