Want to cheer on Kitchener’s Jamal Murray for the NBA finals? The city is putting on watch parties

Kitchener’s Jamal Murray will be playing in the NBA finals against the Miami Heat with the first game kicking off Thursday night. The City of Kitchener is hosting several watch parties. Here’s where to catch the first three games.

Murray is expected to play a key role in the NBA finals

Kitchener’s Jamal Murray will be playing in the NBA finals against the Miami Heat this week with the first games kicking off Thursday night. 

The City of Kitchener is hosting on several NBA watch parties for the community. The first two watch parties will be held at Bobby O’Brien’s in downtown Kitchener and the third watch party will be held at Stanley Park Community Centre. 

Thursday’s watch party will feature live entertainment from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., followed by the main event at 8:30 p.m. Carl Zehr Square will also be lit blue and gold on game nights — the two main colours of the Denver Nuggets.

Murray is a guard with the Denver Nuggets and is expected to play a key role in the NBA finals.

“This community is absolutely thrilled to be celebrating Jamal’s hard work and his achievements, the achievements of the Denver Nuggets and just seeing the electric atmosphere that’s happening in our community as a result of this success,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic.

Here’s where to catch the first three games:

  • Thursday, June 1, 8:30 p.m. at Bobby O’Brien’s.
  • Sunday, June 4, 8 p.m. at Bobby O’Brien’s.
  • Wednesday, June 7, 8:30 p.m. at Stanley Park Community Centre.

Games four through seven will be announced later on.
