Joe Biden is making his first official visit to Canada as U.S. president, arriving in Ottawa Thursday evening with his wife Jill Biden. CBC will have live coverage, starting Friday at 1 p.m. ET.
Highlight of Biden’s 2-day visit will be his address to Parliament
U.S. Presidentย Joe Biden arrived in Ottawa on Thursday for his first official visit to Canadaย since taking office in 2020.
The president and his wifeย Jill Biden began theย two-day visit as they touched downย inย Ottawa around 6:30ย p.m. ET.
They were to first meet with Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, before heading to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s residence.
On Friday,ย Biden will hold meetings with Trudeau before makingย an address to a joint session of Parliament, becoming the eighth U.S. president to do so. He is also expected to have dinner with Trudeau and his family before departing Canada.

- 11:20 a.m.: Meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
- 11:45 a.m.: Trudeau and Biden participate in expanded bilateral meeting
- 2:00 p.m.: Biden addresses Parliament
- 3:45 p.m.: Biden and Trudeau speak to the press
- 6:30 p.m.: Biden, Trudeau and dignitariesย attend a gala dinner at Ottawa’s Aviation Museum
